About Me
Hi, my name is Vicky.
I am an official accredited Jolly Phonics trainer and I thrive on supporting the power of phonics.
In my teaching career I have taught in the UK, the Maldives and Spain. I’ve worked with students whose first languages include Spanish, Italian, Hindi, Chinese, Singhalese, Dhivihi and English. My students have been aged from toddlers to adults.
I’ve had a range of learners so really understand what learning is like for them. What’s amazing is that regardless of your learners first language, these methods will work.
My goal is to help early leaner teachers, teaching assistants, carers and parents with the support needed to decode any phonics programme.
Eliminating the fear and becoming more confident with phonics is what I will coach you in and I’m excited to assist you on your journey.
Paying my phonics knowledge forward is a privilege for me and I’m looking forward to meeting you.
How I Got Started
In 2016 was given the privilege to go to a Jolly Phonics two day workshop and I just thought, “Oh no! Here we go! I’ve got no idea what this is about, but I’ll go along.” Within the first couple of hours, I realised the power of what it is to be able to teach phonics to students. So, after the first day of the workshop I had a private tuition lesson with a student, and I thought “I love this! I’m going to teach this in my lesson.” So I went along to my tuition with no materials, no flash cards, no songs, nothing!! Just a bit of paper and a whiteboard marker and I said to my student “Right! today we’re going to learn about letter sounds!”
